Medicine Hat Tournament Rules 2010

Coin toss to determine home team (all games)

Games tied after 7 innings will be played until a winner is decided. Last batter in the previous inning will start at second base

A 5 run per inning rule will apply except for the 7th inning and any extra innings played

A 15 run mercy rule will apply after 5 innings of play

100 points plus runs scored for a win

Sliding is permitted

A run-by line will be used at home plate

Games are over after the top half of the 7th inning if the home team is ahead

Courtesy runners may be used once the batter has reached base. Anyone in the batting order may be a courtesy runner ONCE PER INNING. If agreed between opposing managers/coaches prior to the start of the game, courtesy runners from home may be used. Any courtesy runner on base when his turn comes to bat will be called out.

Substitution of players from another team will be allowed only if injury occurs and/or a team has 9 or fewer players (60+) or 10 or fewer players (65+ & 70+). Any substitute from another team must play in the field as well as bat. The opposing team manager/coach must be notified of any such substitution prior to the start of any game in which substitutes are used. Any player violating this rule will be ineligible to continue play in the tournament and any team violating this rule will forfeit the game.

Banned bats are as specified by Alberta Senior Slo-pitch Association and the information is available on the ASA website. Any player caught using an illegal bat will be disqualified from continuing play in the tournament and his team will forfeit the game.
